The TAS Farm Innovation Hub is seeking expressions of interest from established farmer groups across Tasmania to participate in the Farmer Group Support Pilot: an initiative designed to support the long-term capacity and sustainability of local producer groups.
This pilot recognises farmer groups play an essential role in our communities, supporting the learning, innovation and connection that helps our farmers to grow and adapt in changing environments.
The Hub also recognises that for farmer groups, there can be barriers to success and growth such as limitation of key individuals time and group financial resources. With groups often relying on volunteers with limited time, a lot of effort goes into the administration of the group, which doesn’t always leave time or energy to focus on the bigger picture.
The Farmer Group Support Pilot aims to alleviate these pressures by offering targeted support and assistance. This includes part-time facilitation to support strategic planning, group coordination, communication, and member engagement. Groups will also receive financial assistance for the delivery of activities that build preparedness for future drought and climate variability, as well as support for leadership and governance development.
