IRRIGATION SYSTEM DESIGN PLANNING

Workshop Longford Wednesday 11 June

The TAS Farm Innovation Hub and Pinion Advisory invite all farmers and service providers to attend a workshop where you can hear from experts about the key steps for successfully planning irrigation development.

Why you should attend
The workshop focus:

  • A successful irrigation system design is one which is optimised for the individual business.
  • Designing an irrigation system should take into consideration the natural resources, the investment
    decision, and the capacity required to meet irrigation goals.

Presenters included:

  • Associate Professor Joseph Foley (University of Southern Queensland) to share the latest insights into agricultural hydrology, water and energy requirements and irrigation system design.
  • James Curran and Dave McLaren from Pinion advisory sharing advice about planning irrigation
    systems in Tasmania, or adapting existing systems.
  • Jason Lynch from Pinion Advisory about natural resources considerations including land capability,
    soil considerations and water budgeting.
  • A panel of irrigation equipment providers about technological advancements on the horizon

This program received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.

The Australian Government is contributing $12.4 million over 4 years through the Future Drought Fund under various grants. Hub partners and the University of Tasmania will provide co-contributions of an amount at least equal to the Australian Government funding over the same period.
