IRRIGATION BASICS FOR THE BERRY INDUSTRY

The TAS Farm Innovation Hub and Pinion Advisory invite staff from businesses in the berry
industry to attend an irrigation short course. to be held at Longford on Tuesday 5 August.

This free, one-day short course is the perfect opportunity for farm staff new to irrigation to gain a
solid introduction to irrigation fundamentals, specifically tailored for berry production.
The course has been designed with both theory and hands-on learning in mind, and includes practical
sessions to ensure participants can directly apply what they learn.


Participants will finish the short course with an understanding of:

  • the plant/water relationship
  • types of irrigation systems
  • maintenance and troubleshooting
  • balancing irrigation and fertigation

This program received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.

The Australian Government is contributing $12.4 million over 4 years through the Future Drought Fund under various grants. Hub partners and the University of Tasmania will provide co-contributions of an amount at least equal to the Australian Government funding over the same period.
